Birch 0.6.1 (Zip File) - Release 08 October, 2010
This is mostly a bug-fix and improvement version. There are some minor changes that make the general experience of Birch a much smoother one, as well as some user request that have been rolled into it.
Properties Dialog Box fixed: it now works in all Look and Feels
Status Window Scroll fixed : The Status window would sometimes not scroll during log-on. This has now been fixed.
/quit /disconnect have now been added. This was done for the long-time Birch User elusiveelf.
Having spent some more time working on multiple-server support after a request from the user elusiveelf I've finally managed to get disconnect working in a sensible fashion. This release has usuable multiple-server support. At the moment, there are two development branches, and the -3 indicates the branch for multiple-servers. This may vanish in later editions, as both branches are merged. Even for those people who are NOT looking for multiple-server support, this client is still the most current, though the changes are entirely related the multiple-server support.
Don't be fooled by it's point increase, many changes have gone into the version to make it much more
functional than the last version. I'm realeasing it as a point version because there is still much work to get
to 0.6 BETA, but I feel that people will benefit from the new additions.
Fixes and Improvements in this Version:
Add Notify event when someone messages the user. - Added SystemIcon
Line Length needs to be hard-fixed so that the user sees what others in the channel sees. - Set to 440 Character - 05.06.2010
ScrollBar changed so that it is now possible to scroll through a channel without it jumping to the bottom when someone adds to the channel. This may have made the "follow the conversation" feature of the channel a little less tight.
~ Caused Status Window SCrollBar bug, where the Status Window scroll bar does not work as expected.
GTK Desktop TaskBar removed, as BIRCH has it's own.
TrayIcon added for notification. Very basic notification, but notifies for new messages, and notices (which go to Status Window)
/msg user(enter) causes the client to Crash! fixed ASAP! - hack-fix 0.5.5.1 - 05.06.2010. TextCommands catches the StringErrorOutOfBoundsException, and avoids the crash, but "/msg nick" is sent to server. This is bad form.
Command History done. Requires double-tapping the up-arrow, or down-arrow, but will cycle through the command history.
Tile and Cascade of Visible Windows Implemented. - 14.05.2010
Simple DCC CHAT plugin implemented. - 14.05.2010
Channels now close upon disconnect. - 22.05.2010
Experimental Version - For Testing Purposes Only
Birch 0.5.5.1-3.BETA.zip
Due to popular demand, I've added multiple-server support to the Java IRC Client. This is currently a \n
very experiemental feature. It DOES succesfully connect to multiple servers, but it doesn't (currently) disconnect from them
in a sensible way (That is, you can't choose which one you want to disconnect from, you can only disconnect the last one connected, but that's not certain either, YMMV). For those of you brave enough to want to help with some real testing, download this one, and give it a go!
